The PL61 ceiling panel features the classic Celtic knot as its main motif, blending the spirit of early medieval Celtic art with the refined geometry of the 19th-century Celtic Revival. The continuous interlace band running along all four sides is inspired by the woven knot patterns found on 7th–12th century British and Irish stone carvings and illuminated manuscripts such as the Book of Kells, symbolizing eternity, protection, and an endless cycle. Layers of rounded frames weave over and under each other, forming small diamond and square knots at the corners and creating a strong yet graceful rhythm. A large, plain square is deliberately reserved in the center, so the composition becomes “ornamental border with a calm core,” preserving classical character while aligning well with contemporary minimalism.
